The Human-BFD project attempted to produce a cross toolchain targeting Human68k DOS on X68000 by Sharp Corporation. It was based on early versions of GNU Binutils and its name stands for the Binary File Descriptor library (in GNU Binutils) for Human68k. If it would have produced a working toolchain successfully, we could make Human68k executables on most POSIX-compatible operating systems.
The project first tried to implement the .X executable output, but failed to make a working implementation due to its load-time relocation requirement and lack of the author’s spare time. After that, the project has been inactive for a long time.
